My Coaching System Predicted My Weight Gain. The Scale Confirmed It.

My goal for Week 2 of my own coaching plan was simple: lose half a pound.

I didn't. I gained 0.3 lbs. And my system told me exactly why before I even stepped on the scale.

The Setup

Every client in my Coach OS gets an observed BMR — not a textbook formula, a live number calculated from their actual logged intake and real training output, updated every week. Mine came out to 1,936 calories at 110+ miles per week. The standard static estimate? 1,750. The difference matters. At that training volume, my body's energy demand looks nothing like the formula.

With an observed BMR of 1,936, my prescribed maintenance sits at 3,996 cal/day. To lose half a pound a week, my deficit target was 3,746.

What I Actually Logged

3,988 / 4,762 / 3,636 / 3,795 / 4,268 / 4,474 / 4,259

Weekly average: 4,169 cal/day. Against a target of 3,746.

That's a +2,400 calorie gap for the week above my deficit target. The system predicted +0.69 lbs. I gained +0.3.

Direction correct. Magnitude within 0.4 lbs.

Why This Matters

This isn't a macro calculator spitting out a generic number. It's a live system that moves with your training load every single week. Running places a different demand on your energy system than almost any other sport — your nutrition prescription has to move with it.

The math didn't fail. The prescription was right. I just didn't hit it. And the system caught that before the scale did.

That's the point.
